Step Back in Time - September 13th, 2009
10.00 - 3.00pm

So what’s this all about?

Eungella Business Group was fortunate enough to be awarded a grant recently from Q150 (Queensland 150 years Celebrations Campaign ). The money will go towards an event called "Step Back in Time" which will be held on Sunday September 13th at the Eungella State School.  The aim is to record Eungella's history using personal tales of "life in Eungella" and through the collection of images, slides and photographs. All oral accounts and images will be transcribed/recorded then made available to the public. The "Step back in time" event hopes to see many past and present Eungella residents attending but also welcomes those who are simply interested in history itself.

The organising team has already been busy talking to locals in the area who have many tales and memories of the local "going-ons" and can offer an informative or humorous story to our valued collection. It's not that hard when the history of Eungella extends from dairying to gold mining at the diggings, the logging industry and of course the changing township and schools of yesteryear. We are proud of our little town having so much history and see the need for those memories and historical facts to be collected and kept safe for future generations to explore.

Who’s invited?

On Sunday 13th of September light refreshments and snacks will be served to those who attend and contribute to our collection. Visitors are welcome and food and drink will be on sale. The Eungella State School children will have displays on show depicting how they now see Eungella and the "Step back in time" team hope to have some of the newly collected information displayed to help jog your memories a little. Of course you never know who you will bump into on the day, it could end up being quite a reunion for some!

What should I bring along?

Don't forget to bring in any photos, slides or images of Eungella’s past as our team will be busy recording personal accounts of history and scanning/copying any images brought to us so that all of your precious photographs are returned to you on the day. Once we have collected all we can, all oral accounts of history will be transcribed and this information along with photographs will be made available to the public via this very website.
