Step Back in Time - September 13th, 2009
10.00 - 3.00pm

So what’s this all about?

Eungella Business Group was fortunate enough to be awarded a grant from Q150 (Queensland 150 years Celebrations Campaign ). The money went towards an event called "Step Back in Time" held on Sunday September 13th at the Eungella State School.  The aim was to record Eungella's history using personal tales of "life in Eungella" and through the collection of images, slides and photographs so that oral accounts and images could be transcribed/recorded then made available to the public.

The "Step back in time" event saw many past and present Eungella residents attending, welcoming over 300 people on the day. The organising team received many congratulations for a very enjoyable day and they managed to provide the prefect opportunity for further historical research.

It's not that hard when the history of Eungella extends from dairying to gold mining at the diggings, the logging industry and of course the changing township and schools of yesteryear. We are proud of our little town having so much history and see the need for those memories and historical facts to be collected and kept safe for future generations to explore.

How can I help?

So perhaps you have or know someone who has something important to contribute to Eungella's history collection? get in contact with one of our "Step back in time" members to arrange a more suitable meeting time. Phone Del at the school on Ph:4958 4573 or Glenda on Ph : 4958 4527 or alternatively email: SBIT@eungella.com.au

As the “Step Back in Time” day has come and gone, we still have many interviews that require final editing and transcription or need people to follow up on contacts made from the day and to conduct interviews.

It is a lengthy process, but the Step Back in Time team are a passionate lot, who take it all in their stride. If you think you can help, please get in contact with them via the above contact details.
